THE GREAT CANCER COMEBACKS

From a Oncologist's notebook: ''Cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in body''
From a Psychiatrist's notebook: ''Cancer always leads to severe major depression''
From an India-TV journalist's notebook: ''Cancer is something that Yuvraj Singh is suffering'' !!!

Nothing is more disastrous than knowing the fact that you are suffering from a malignant cancer & death is knocking at the door. Though AIDS is more dangerous,it is not as famous as it's glamorous counterpart CANCER because no one really comes back from AIDS to reveal the fight with it. But comeback stories are more in case of cancer. Cancer causes depression, depression may worsen cancer & the vicious cycle continues. That is why those who have fought & won the battle against it deserve the salutes from us. Treatment in the textbooks are same for all patients but the patience & self-confidence differs, hence the following personalities are a huge sources of inspiration for all of us.

STEVE JOBS:
If you have slightest of general knowledge then this man doesn't need an introduction.Though he was suffering from carcinoma of pancreas which has a very high mortality rate, the way he worked & uplifted apple is just amazing. The word 'Inspiration' is just another word staarting from 'i', when we talk about Steve Jobs. Now-a-days there are two kinds of phones in market, the iphones & the non-iphones!! this is the man behind the 'i' revolution. Surviving 8 years with a highly malignant Pancreatic tumor, undergoing a liver transplantation & managing Apple simultaneously makes you a true legend.

LANCE ARMSTRONG:
When it comes to sportsperson with cancer, it is Lance who always takes the top spots in web pages. He was suffering from a malignant variety of Cancer of testis. But for him, it was just a disease. His performance after the diagnosis of the cancer proves that self-belief is much more malignant than a malignant cancer. He won the prestigious Tour de France championship for a record consecutive 7 times after the Cancer diagnosis.
Hats off to you Lance.

                   KATHY BATES

Frankly speaking if you want to know about the achievements of this american actress please refer to her Wikipedia page. I guess space will be an issue to type her achievements here. In short, she is a super acting talent. Though she was diagnosed with a malignant ovarian tumor in the year 2002, she revealed that in public in 2008 after getting recovery from cancer. But the interesting thing is that during those 5 years with cancer she had acted in nearly  4o movies which include some of the biggest hits like, 'About Schmidt', 'PS I Love you', 'Around the world in 80 days' etc. She is currently the executive committee chair of the actors branch of the Academy of motion picture arts & Sciences Board of Governors.

KYLIE MINOUGE

The famous Australian singer, song writer, recording artist, actress, show girl...... In short, a talent powerhouse.

She didn't stop after being diagnosed with carcinoma of breast in the year 2005. But after the mastectomy surgery & intensive chemotherapy she staged her own comeback. Plenty of hit albums & stage performances speaks the volume of her confidence. Salutes to you.

                           NELSON MANDELA

1st black president of Republic of South africa, Nobel laureate for peace.

He was diagnosed with a malignant prostate cancer for which he had to undergo series of radio therapies & chemotherapies.  More than 30 years of imprisonment, pulmonary TB infection & now battling against Carcinoma of prostate.  He is a true example of 'how to bear pain patiently' !!!

MARK  HERZLICH
A famous American footballer & one of the bests of the team 'New York Giants' of the NFL. He was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer named as Ewing's Sarcoma. After the diagnosis he gave a speech in media which was really inspiring for all the cancer victims...'' I had been extremely focus on preparing for my senior season in the Boston college & for life beyond that.. but now, I must channel all that energy into facing my toughest opponent yet & that is exactly what I'll do. At this point, what this means for football in future but I am determined to rid my body of this disease so that I can put my uniform back on''.
Despite not playing college football in 2009, he received Disney's Wide world of sports spirit award for overcoming cancer, as well the Nils V.''Swede'' Nelson award for sportsmanship. In January 2011, he received the ''Most courageous athlete award from the Philadelphia sports writers association.  You are a true champion !!

JON LESTER
One of the best base ball players of USA. Currently in the Boston Red Sox team. He was bought by BRS with a price $1.1, the highest signing amount for a second rounder.
He was diagnosed with a malignant Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in the year 2005. But within 2 years of the diagnosis he came back to the field & won the final game of the  2007 world series  & in May 2008, he pitched a no-hitter against the Kansas City Royals. To honor Lester's comeback from lymphoma, the Boston baseball writer's association of America voted him for the 2007 'Tony Conigliaro award' ..

               JOHN CULLEN

He is a professional NHL9 National Hockey League) player of Canadian origin. He was the all time lead scorer for Boston University. He was diagnosed with NHL( Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma) in the year 1997 for which he had to undergo intensive radio & chemotherapy for 2 years. During those days he had nearly faced death once because of cardiac arrest. But ultimately he got cured & re-entered on to the field of ice with a $0.5 million contract for the 1998-99 season. Rest was history as because of his performances the team 'Tampa bay lightnings' easily advanced to all tournaments. Coming back from a Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma, sustaining a cardiac arrest & giving some match winning performances just makes this man special.

                     EDNA CAMPBELL

She was a professional Basketball player of the WNBA playing for the Sacramento Monarchs team.

She is well known for continuing her playing career in spite of being diagnosed with breast cancer. She became the WNBA's national spokesperson for it's anti cancer efforts with Susan G. Komen breast cancer foundation. During the 2006 WNBA season, which honored 9 years of existence, Edna Campbell 's return from breast cancer was nominated by fans as Most inspirational & one of the top four WNBA anniversary decade moments

I have mentioned about the comeback of 9 personalities from the jaws of cancer. I could have easily searched another name to make a list of 10 comebacks. But I did keep it only 9 deliberately because I'll edit this post & I'll make it 10 only after YUVRAJ SINGH comes back from the Cancer center to the Cricket Center. In short, the slot is reserved for YUVRAJ & this post is dedicated to this person who has tasted us a World Cup.

DEAR YUVRAJ, YOU ARE A SUPER TALENT & WE ALL ARE PRAYING FOR YOUR QUICK RECOVERY.

LOVE BREAKUPS ZINDAGI; what I have learned !!

First of all I apologize my favorite Dia Mirza as it took me nearly 2 months to watch LBZ... :( :(  This is just like eating girlfriend's birthday cake a month after her birthday !!! After all she is the only Bollywood actress who has replied me in twitter !!! :)  luckily I got time to watch this movie... I got love, i got breakups, I got zindagi !!.... Well how can I waste 2.5 hours without learning? Here are the things I watched & leaned from my darling's movie....

1) It doesn't matter whether you are single or committed... whenever you are visiting a new place to meet plenty of new people, always confidently say that ''I AM SINGLE''..

2) Most of the time the ex-boy friends of the lead actresses are investment bankers !!

3) If you are desperately searching for a partner to get married soon, then attend the marriage ceremony of any of your Punjabi friends.

4) Whenever the girl you love shows her interest for puppies, you have to SHOW that you too are crazy for the puppies [even if you are allergic to them]

5) Never consider the door to be closed when the girl/boy you love says that he/she is already in relationships...because nobody ever mentions whether the relationship is in a good or bad state ;)

6) Most of the successful Bollywood love stories end either in the airport or on the way to airport.

7) It is always wise to stop a bad ongoing relationship as soon as possible. life in PAUSE is better than life in PUS !!

8) Sometimes movies are good even in the presence of Zayed Khan.

9) All the MIRZAs look marvelous.... ;) ;)

THE KING OF SAND

A nice sunny Sunday, not much work,12000 km away from from home and importantly alone...Believe me this is the best time to have a look at the pictures saved in the laptop. It really refreshed all my sweet memories. While watching, I really paused the windows picture slide show to concentrate on a particular picture.I was with a great person in that picture & frankly speaking I am really proud to have that picture with me.  It  is the picture neither with SRK nor with my darling Dia Mirza. He is one of the biggest achievers of the state ODISHA. He is unorthodox in the fashion that he gives shape to sands, supremely successful but extremely down to earth . He is none other than the great sand artist Mr Sudarshan Pattnaik.

I always believe that if we can't do anything for our own state/country, we must at least let others know about the achievements of our people. So it gives me immense pleasure to let others know about this great personality from Odisha. This talent was born in a very poor family in  1977 in Puri, the holy land of the Lord Jagannath. He is the first sand artist of India. It is such an art in which one needs to swim in the sea of creativity in order to achieve something. The holy air of puri, blessings of Lord Jagannath & the DNA power-packed with creativity gradually drove this person to the pinnacle of success in a unique field of art. he has been conquering the sands since the age of only seven ! In a state where people are obsessed with turning their children into either doctors or engineers, he has proved that nothing can beat creativity. Interestingly there was nobody to teach him these arts. He was his own teacher, he created & he mastered it.. !!

Now after almost 25 years of romance with the sands, he is regarded as the numero uno sand artist of the panet. A person who was never taught anything regarding sand art is managing an institute in the name 'Golden Sand art Institute' in Puri which is first of it's nature in whole India. Plenty of students are working under his arm & one of them is Manas kumar Sahoo who was the semi finalist of India's got talent season-2.

Let me put light on some of his remarkable achievements;

- He has participated in more than 40 international sand art competitions & won may awards for the country

- The 15 feet high Santa clause of sand made by him holds the world record for tallest ever Santa clause.

- He won the people's choice award at the 1st International Sand Sculpture Championship held in Moscow,  Russia.

- He brought to life with sand the stirring image of Mahatma Gandhi leading the Dandi march at the commonwealth games opening ceremony in New Delhi.

- He had created a 15 feet high hindu God Ganesh to create awareness among the people on the potential dangers of global warming at the international sand championship. The top of the sculpture depicted the melting the glaciers of the Himalayas & in the flowing water Lord Ganesh travelling on a boat with a sign 'Divine concern on global warming' !!

- His other  amazing sand creations were the  'Black Taj mahal' , Obama, Lord Jagannath, Buddha etc

The above achievements are like a drop from an ocean. He is just 35 years old so plenty of artistic wonders are on the cards  & I can't use the phrase ''Rest is history''. You are really a star & we the Indians and Odias are really proud of your achievements & we pray for your success in future endeavors.

THE HYDERABADI DESPERATION

7 am in clock & I left for the US consulate in Begumpet in Hyderabad, India. The scheduled interview time was 8 am. I applied at Hyderabad consulate with the belief that applicants must be few as compared to at other consulates like Delhi/Mumbai/Chennai/Mumbai( of course I don't like Kolkata). But when I reached there, the reality easily outnumbered my belief. Almost all of them belonged to Andhra Pradesh except few like me. It seemed as if I am queuing up for a big entrance examination. Most of the applicants appeared to come directly from temples as the Sindhur on their forehead was very much prominent. All look tensed. They seemed more tensed than a Viswanathan Anand in front of a chess board, degree of silence was more than that of Dr Manmohan Singh. I felt like the student having the lowest IQ/worst preparation for a test.

Fortunately my aunt was with me to share some of her thoughts on the hyderabadi applicants. According to her, in last 15 years, she hasn't seen a single middle class Telugu family from which nobody has gone to USA for a higher course. Going to USA is a matter of prestige for Telugu families especially in Hyderabad !! Most of them go for a MS course just after the Btech course !! The most interesting fact is that it is extremely hard to get a bride for a hyderabadi boy not having a USA tag. So nothing is more embarrassing than getting denied because of an educational issue.

It was 8.30 in the clock when I was finally allowed to stand in the queue for the interview. Out of curiosity I started conversation with the guy standing in front of me. As expected, he was going to University of Akron, Ohio for his MS !! After few minutes, the girl who was behind me asks me '' excuse me, are you going for MS?'' .... after clarifying my case to her I asked her about her purpose of visit.... no prize for guessing..it was MS again!!!! She said almost 30-40% of her batch mates have applied for that MS degree.. She even told that her boy friend went to USA last year !!! [I never expected a stranger girl to talk to me about her boy friend] ;) .Massive brain-drain !!.. I assumed them to be super rich guys who are going for MS for 2 years. But when I eared the interview of the front guy, I listened something interesting.

Consular officer: So Mr Venkat, Who'll be sponsoring you during your stay in USA?
            Venkat : My father's annual income is 400k INR/annum & I have a bank loan of 20 lakh INR !!!!!!!

Immediately I looked back to the girl named Vijaylaxmi. I asked her whether she has gone for any loan. She said its 15 lakh INR !!!!! Now my belief about Hyderabadis got consolidated. Anyways my interview went in a smooth manner & I was granted. Very Next day,I met one of my best friends Amit. he asked me whether I went to Chilkur balaji temple !!!!
Chilkur balaji??? I exclaimed....  He said Chilkur Balaji is also known as Visa god/Visa Balaji. Before going for the Visa interview, the Hyderabadis worship the Visa Balaji. I just couldn't resist my curiosity & checked it google.. I found the following from the wiki page.

''Chilkur Balaji Temple popularly known as Visa Balaji Temple or Visa God , is an ancient Hindu temple of Lord Balaji on the banks of Osman Sagar Lake near Hyderabad, India. It is 33 Kms away from Mehedipatnam. The Balaji temple is one of the oldest temples in the Telangana region built during the time of Madanna and Akkanna, the uncles of Bhakta Ramadas.
Approximately, 75,000 to a lakh devotees visit the shrine during the week, but on Fridays and Saturdays, the temple gets close the cumulative of a week. Many of whom come to pray to Balaji for visas to travel or move to the US and other Western countries. And its head priest Gopala Krishna is instrumental for the temples popularity as Visa God.''

It is really hard to believe the fact that there are temples for visa interviews. In fact there are 3 more such temples in India. But it is the Chilkur balaji which has the highest success rate. It just shows how desperate some of the Hyderabadis are. I am not writing anything offensive but degree of desperation they are showing is hard to digest. It would have been fairly normal to go to visa interview in an usual manner. But to do the same with 20-25 lakh bank loan & worships at the visa Balaji temple is little funny. I am not criticizing them for going USA for higher education(as I am also in the race), in fact it is the level of obsession & desperation for it which irritates my grey matter the most. It just creates an impression as if USA is indispensable for us. So it is just a simple suggestion to all the hyderabadis in a friendly manner ... ''Don't be over-desperate for USA... go, use their system & come back to India (Brain gain).... if they deny visa, just work in India & show that they have done a mistake by not issuing the visa''

[PS: I am not typing this stuff as I my application didn't get rejected. it is just a realization. I hope nothing in this article is cardiotoxic .. In case it has hurt any person, I apologize from the bottom of the heart]

HAVE I MADE IT LARGE?

3-4 movies per day, end less gossips with friends on the terrace, over-use of social networking sites.. This has been the story since last 1.5 months. Currently all these entertainments are sandwiched by the pleasant hope of using the prefix 'Dr' & a frightening anticipation of getting failed in the exam. So the life is all about killing the boredom since the last the day of final MBBS exam. Few days back, all those text books (Harri+David+Ander+Nel)Sons were killing our time... but now we are searching for different methods apart from the books. I bet, for most of the people on the planet social networks are the best way to get relief from the  boredom & I am not the lucky exception. With the down falling falling of Orkut, most of the grey matters are jammed at Facebook & Twitter now a days. OK I am Sorry if I am confusing you with the title 'Have I made it large?' Definitely I am not a brand ambassador ROYAL STAG ! Its just about the psychological reflections of those addicted to Face Book & Twitter.

''Young girl commits suicide after not getting enough 'LIKES' on the face book profile picture''..... ''boy throws acids on girl's face after the later denied his friend request in F.book''..... ''famous fashion designer is depressed because of not getting enough followers in Twitter''

I think we are definitely going to hear such news in TV channels/news papers(P.S-I am not counting 'INDIA TV' in the channel list). We are so much addicted to these things that it'll be simply unavoidable in near future. If someone says he/she doesn't post a picture/update just to get the 'LIKEs', he/she is the biggest liar on this planet. Almost of all of us are using these sites for self-publicity.. that is the truth ! No body will admit that he/she was not sad after not getting the 'likes & comments'. Being frank I would love to reveal that some of my friends have phoned me in mid night to click the LIKE option or give some praise-coated comments on their posts. That is purely & surely ridiculous. My heart wanted to block those persons in FB but brain made me realize that it is a normal phenomenon. Even the likes of Amitabh Bachchan & Sachin Tendulkar are using networking sites. Struggling actresses like Minisha Lamba/Riya Sen/Antara Mali manage their self-created fan groups in Facebook. So it doesn't matter whether you are from a middle class family or you are the son/daughter of the Mallyas/Ambanis, you always crave for publicity. Shower of LIKEs & comments makes us feel that YES, I HAVE MADE IT LARGE !!!

One thing for sure, the social networking sites have given birth to millions of HYPOCRITES. Believe me, its really funny to go through the profiles of this type of people. As evident from the definition, they are the ones whose actions are not consistent with their claimed beliefs. 'I WHAT I AM'....'I AM AN OPEN BOOK' ...'I AM A SIMPLE GIRL' ... I BELIEVE IN SIMPLE LIVING, HIGH THINKING' ... These are the most common phrases in the 'about me' column in Facebook/Orkut/Twitter. They always try to convince how sweet/cute they are via these types of phrases. I have found few people to be completely opposite in their real life though their profile shows these phrase since they were zygotes. I believe this is just to balance/over-balance their social prestige. By this, the profile looks as if IT HAS MADE ITSELF LARGE !

According to a recent publication by the the Dept of human psychology of University of Cambridge, Social networks have drastically hampered the communication skills among teens. They usually get a false sense of satisfaction of being smart/aggressive/romantic in their Facebook profile. But in real life they struggle to catch up with their Facebook images which leads to depression, poor eye contact during communication etc. The researchers claim that it happens when the false sense of pride in virtual world is out of phase with the real world activities. So it is not all about MAKING IT LARGE in networking sites by funny updates & posting one of the good looking pictures(out of millions of bad looking pics).... its all about asking HAVE I MADE IT LARGE?? in the real life ...... ( my heart says the answer: NO NO NO )

[all of us have become the victims of these sites... frankly speaking, while typing this blog I was thinking whether people will LIKE this or not... whether the members of indiblogger.com will PROMOTE my post in indivine or not etc ... I realize, its a human instinct & its unavoidable]

NO I HAVEN'T MADE IT LARGE :(

MAUSAM; what I have learned?

Things I have learned from the movie MAUSAM:
1) In India, you can drive a car having the driver's seat in the left side..but u have 2 be in a village of Punjab.

2) Anyone in love should have an e-mail id so that, the change of address won't affect future communications.

3) Never trust a person who had loved you unilaterally.. he/she may burn some of your important letters/documents.

4) It is possible to recover from a brachial plexus injury, provided you save someone's life from a great height.

5) When you see a lady with a baby in train, it doesn't necessarily signify that the lady is the mother of the baby.

6) It is possible to watch the consequences of 92 Mumbai blast, Kargil war, WTC blast, Gujurat hindu-muslim riot in a single movie.

7) Even though you are having holidays, you should avoid watching movies like MAUSAM. 140 minutes are too much..

HUSSAIN & THE DONKEYS

Born in Chennai, raised in London. He has a mediocre test batting average of 37.18 & a poor ODI average of 30.28. Still he over estimates himself.

'' We all know that there are 3-4 good fielders in Indian side, but still they have few DONKEYS in the team''-- This is one of the worst comments of his life.

This bastard works as a commentator for sky sports & he is one of the worst commentators this planet has ever seen.

I think this is enough to identify this man. He is non other than NASSER HUSSAIN.  When the standard of English cricket team was similar to that of Indian Hockey team, Mr Nasser bloody Hussain was behaving like a true gentleman. Nobody was paying attention to his comments. He was just another person in the commentary box. But now England has thrashed India by 4-0 in test series & now they are the ranked 1 test team in the world. So it is obvious that it has resurrected the arrogance of Hussain. He is not the only English player who has behaved in such a disgusting way but definitely he is the one who has crossed the limits.

Parthiv Patel misses a difficult catch of Kevin Pieterson & this man comments that Indian side has few DONKEYS !!! Someone has WRONGLY said that 'Cricket is a gentlemen's game'. Because, in the presence of commentators like Hussain it is no longer a gentlemen's game. We shouldn't forget that 2 years back Indian team also snatched the rank-1 spot from the Aussies but after that I have never heard any hostile comment from Indian commentators. If I am not wrong India has produced a lot of high quality commentators like Ravi Shastri, Sanjay Manjerekar, Harsh Bhogle. Even the sperms of all the existing cricketers of this planet will admit the fact that Indian commentators are far better than Hussain. In the field of cricket commentary, if Ravi Shastri is Anjelina Jolie then Hussain is just inferior to Rakhi Sawant. I can't understand what has prompted Hussain to use the word DONKEY for some of the fielders. It may be the arrogance after getting the crown on rank-1 or may be the desire to get quick publicity as a commentator !!? The way the ex-English players are behaving, it seems as if they are participating in a reality show. Somehow I feel Nasser Hussain & Michel Vaughn are best suited to be parts of BIG BROTHER. If Hussain has a little bit of self respect, he must apologize for this thing as soon as possible. He must not forget that his blood is of Indian origin.

I can't understand why the BCCI & ICC are not taking any action against Hussain. Ex- Australian player Dean Jones called Hashim Amla of south africa a TERRORIST & on the very next day, he was sacked from his job as a commentator. Now it is time for sky sports to take some action against this pugnacious personality. At the same time team India has to show that they don't deserve that tag by displaying  some extraordinary fielding in the upcoming one day series. Only performance can silent those rusty & arrogant critics.

NEGATIVES OF BEING A MEDICAL STUDENT

Final MBBS professional exam was just knocking at the door. It is just like YAMRAJ forcefully taking someone to hell who wants live more. On the other hand it is one of those exams in which the more you read, the more you'll feel unprepared. The Sachins & Laras of my medical college were so depressed because of the exam that it is better not to ask about the mental status of one of the Jadejas of my college( myself). I was mentally sick & physically weak. So to avoid unnecessary distractions I decided to change my phone number & ultimately gave it to only my parents & close friends.

from my new no to my mom: ''Hi mom, I have changed my no & this is the new one. Please don't give this to anyone. I seriously want no distractions as the pressure to perform is killing me''

Mom: OK, why should I give?? You study as intensely as you can. Take care bye.

After 2 HOURS after that conversation:

Mom: Hey Gem, Alok uncle was asking for your number. actually he has some joint problems & he wants to consult a Rheumatologist of your college. So I have given your new number.

Me: Whattttttttt...? mom, it is exam time. how can you do that??

Mom: please help him, service to mankind is service to god !! He needs you badly. He has been very nice to us. He loves you so much. Isn't it unfair not to give him your contact number??

After 30 minutes, I got a call from Alok uncle & the very next day I had to sacrifice nearly 2.5 hours for his consultation, lab investigations etc. Each minute wasted in that day was making me feel as if a vampire is sucking each ml of my blood ( of course HIV negative). & the worst part was, I had never seen Alok uncle before.Though according to my mom, he loves me very much, for me he was just a patient from Pluto. This is one of the biggest worries for a medico. you have to sacrifice your much needed time for some of the relatives from other planets. Thousands of patients come to hospital without having any of their relatives enrolled to the same medical college. But I don't understand why the super distant relatives desperately seek the useless privilege from us.They usually seek consultation from super duper specialists like a dentist extracting the premolar teeth of right side only or a doctor who treats only the arthritis of middle finger of right hand. Ironically, the Pluto relatives expect us to know more medical facts than the reputed doctors. If we don't help, we'll be tagged as arrogant/irresponsible... if we help, we will end up in losing precious times. I am not saying that we shouldn't help but to that during exams is just like asking a Spanish matador to kill his bull. So one should always try to enter a medical college out of own state or at least own city.

How do you feel when >99% of your friends earn 4-5 lakhs per annum from the Infosys/Wipro/TCS etc & you still unwillingly have romance with books having 4 to 5 thousand pages in the library?? No one can admit that he/she has an orgasmic feeling for the above reason. Friends working at mentally cool atmospheres, enjoying weekends at the McDonalds/KFC & posting get together pictures in Facebook really evokes a little bit of jealousy. It doesn't matter how often you say 'Doctors are second only to God', 'No profession is better than the medical profession'', you are bound to feel the heat once your non-medico friends establish themselves before you do so.  On weekend we tend to study hard & at the same time you can well imagine the other extreme of enjoyment by settled friends. So seriously it is a mental drawback for medicos. The enjoyment, the freedom, quick money from 21st year of life onwards of a non-medico always disturbs a medico's fragile mind.

Here comes the biggest drawback. I have seen few of my friends suffering from this one. But to be a victim of this trouble, you need to seriously in love with someone. If you are in the final year of MBBS, your approximate age must be 23+ & must of Indian girls get married at an average age of 25 years. From my research, it is evident that most of the medicos fall in love with their batch mates irrespective of their courses. To be very frank, if you are in love with your batchmate and you are in final year, you have to face the pressure of getting married early. You can well imagine the other sweet activities after marriage that can have an ill effect on studies. I have seen few of my seniors who have surrendered to this pressure. Ironically, if you haven't completed a PG, then nobody'll prefer you as a doctor. So those true lovers always get sandwiched between pressure of marriage & pressure of PG. But to my knowledge such things are rare in a non medico's life. Nobody will point a finger even if they have only one thing called B.tech. They enter college & feel like being a part of a Rajnikanth movie but medicos enter the college & feel like being a part of a Tushar Kapoor/Uday Chopra movie.

Even with the aforementioned drawbacks, it is still a highly prestigious profession. Just blogging 3-4 drawbacks will never reduce the charm of the subject. I hope pure fans of medical science won't mind this blog. If we do well, every profession offers us the lift to the zenith.

AN OPEN LETTER TO KALMADI

RESPECTED( JUST JOKING) Mr Kalmadi,

I wish you are not fine. Life at Tihar must be amazingly painful.I was so happy to hear that you are suffering from memory loss( i wish you had impotency, gangrene of testes,Brain abscess etc). Now you can't even count the amount of money you have pocketed during common wealth games. Someone has wrongly said that 'Hard work never goes in vain'. You worked extremely hard to earn those rupees but ultimately you are in Jail. Just tell me what the hell do you know about sports administration? Apart from your family members/party members if someone says that you were the right person to be the chief of Indian Olympic Council, I'll stop blogging. Even a fetus staying in mother's uterus can say that you are one of the bloody Indians who is highly amalgamated with corruption. Your face looks like a gangrenous scrotum. frankly speaking we the Indians hate you. My 1 heart, 2 eyes, 206 bones, 5 liters of blood, 5.5 million RBCs declare that people like you should be sodomized brutally as soon as possible. There is no need to spend money for your security in Tihar.

I know it is painful for you. But think about those money you have bagged. majority of Indians are below poverty line & they could have been benefited. You were riding an Audi Q4, your wife's ornaments were heavier than her weight. What was your problem?? In our school time, we used to study C for CAT, L for LION...but you children must have studied C for CORRUPTION, L for LUXURY etc. Have you ever punished yourself when India doesn't get enough medals in Olympics?? The number of sedans you have bought easily outnumbers the number of India's medal in Olympics during your tenure. That is the bitter truth.

But the best thing is that you are very famous now. Though in a very negative way. Some one has posted in twitter that you have requested a swiss bank to open their ATM counter in Tihar campus!! Great!! Anyways take care of your health, Vigilance dept is doing the same with your wealth. ( Now truly it is the COMMON WEALTH, not your's )

Worst regards

POSITIVE JEALOUSY

…… 'Competition is the fuel for advancement'….. 'Jealousy in a positive way is a real gem'… 'Success at present is the biggest enemy of future'.....'if I rest, I rust'.

Since the day I have joined the social networking sites, these types of quotes have thoroughly entertained my retina. Sometimes they make me feel great, sometimes they impose intellectual threat. It is really hard to digest whether these quotes have been framed by normal people for those who lack motivation or it is just the opposite. Somehow the life span of these quotes in my grey matter is very little. So before imprinting these quotes on my personality, I always wonder ‘what was the bloody quote?’ Finally something has knocked my skull. In this ultra modern world, two things have always been under the scanner for their role in origin of motivation: POSITIVE JEALOUSY & RELATIONSHIPS (we do things either to suppress someone or impress someone!!). Though I am extremely poor in handling relationships, I happily admit that at few turns in my life, relationships have helped me to keep the motivation level adequate. OK, I shouldn't write much about relationships as someone has rightly said ‘Little knowledge is always dangerous’.

Virat Kohli couldn't have improved as a batsman, if he would have pleased with the fact that he is a far better batsman than Ravindra Jadeja… It is the realization that he is not up to the marks of Tendulkar/Dravid keeps him opsonized with motivation, dedication & determination. [P.S- Kohli has not paid me for promoting himself by my blog]… But the exact opposite is happening to Indian drama queen- Honorable Ms/Mrs. Rakhi Sawant. She has an orgasmic feeling when she considers herself to be far advanced than the South African Zulu dancers & we are suffering because of her over confidence  so the real master key to open the lock of luck is POSITIVE JEALOUSY. It is something which is synonymous to inspiration but in a different pathway. You can say that ‘I don't like the person but I like his/her achievements'.

Some may argue that jealousy is jealousy, it can never be positive. But according to my opinion, it is something which paves the way to inspiration. Jealousy grows with the growth of human being & ultimately becomes an instinct. If I recall my past, I always find that during school days we were not victimized by jealousy… 10 AM to 4 PM in the school, then romance with Cricket followed by home work in the evening & later a sweet, unstrained sleep in the night… In college days it hugged us lightly. We were jealous for Friend’s great rank at AIIMS/IITs, pal’s girls, neighbor’s Honda City etc. At that point of time, it was hard to find the positivity out of it because of the mental immaturity. But now we have to hug/smooch (whatever you are comfortable with) the positivity. ‘I am good, but I am not the best’…. ‘He is doing it, why shouldn’t I?’ It is the moment to show the maturity, to possess the positivity. If we are not successful, we must enjoy the success of others so that we can identify the real taste of it. Believe me; the taste of success from friend's

bowel (success) definitely increases our appetite for the same.

I am writing about jealousy because I was jealous, I am giving stress to positive jealousy because it has resurrected my competitive spirit. Only time will decide whether we go on the path of Kohli or Rakhi but the best thing that we can do apart from hard work is to SPRINKLE POSITIVITY AROUND US…

RELATIONSHIP versus CAREER

''Falling in love with you is the best thing happened in my life''
''Spending the life with the person you love most is the biggest achievement''
           ''Love makes life beautiful''

All the above quotes are imprinted on the epithelium of the tongue of a person flying in love. The moment one falls in love, he/she becomes so ecstatic that everything appears to be easy & soft !! Nothing looks impossible for the freshers of lovology. A guy who wished to study at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT) is now ready to take admission in Mahaveer Institute of Technology(MIT) just because her girl friend is in the later MIT. Believe me, I have seen few of these lovogenic psychos in last 4-5 years. They always claim that, 'we are made for each other.....we are mad for each other ....bla bla bla...'   The word 'Career' undergoes apoptosis in the dictionary of these couples. They say that staying in touch with each other propels their life/love boat in a streamline manner.

Frankly speaking, I don't have much idea regarding the preferences of these guys for relationship over a good career. May be it is the so called 'power of  love' which consolidates their inclination towards each other. I am not sure, whether I've under-estimated this power or they have over-estimated it.
Sometimes I feel that 'Happiness' is a subjective thing. different people have different goals in life that sprinkles  happiness on them. Some find it in the beautiful arms/eyes of their partners, some in the super deluxe rooms of The Grand Hyatt & some in the classrooms of the Harvard/AIIMS.

But the biggest thing is that while watching the tug of war between the relationship & career most of us never book a ticket for our parents. Very few guys allow their parents to observe this encounter between life and wife. Believe me, less than 0.0000000001% of the parents will prefer their son/daughters love life over their bright career. I don't say that one should never fall in love, rather the relationship shouldn't be that serious to choke the career. The bitter truth is that no body is immune to love, so it is better to get vaccinated....BUT what really matters is the DOSE OF THE VACCINE(love).. The dose shouldn't be lethal for the career...

[There are people who have excelled in both relationships & careers, but all are not Rajnikanth...so think million times before you take any step]

MESSAGE FROM MYOCARDIUM

If your blood is enriched with Indian traditions, if you are a serious fan of hyper-romantic movies, if your grey matter always gets jammed during sweet imaginations, then this article is tailor-made for you. In this ultra-modern society, some of the important elements of life are getting slurred & blurred & one of those things is LOVE. I don't know how I accumulate huge amount of ATPs to write about this four lettered lovely/lethal (Please be free to choose your option) word. I personally feel that the slurred & blurred state of LOVE in college life is somehow related to some confusions & some Brain-Heart Arguments. Some say love makes life beautiful, some say it only makes wife beautiful........some say love makes life better & some say it makes life bitter.........some say it is a great treat, others say it is a deep shit.....Some say it was a thorny journey & some say it was a fair affair......Believe me, the same scenario was puzzling all the neurons in  my brain since last couple of years & according to my diagnosis, the root cause was found out to be career tension & disharmony between heart & brain....

I don't know what happened to me 3 days back...everything was crystal clear in front of my retina.....I was searching magic on the stage, but the real magic was among the audience......an unusual sensation captured my mind, body & soul.....but again I became the victim of CONFUSION, I couldn't decided whether to go for the magic or not.......My medicine/surgery textbooks that are bulkier than Bill Gates's blanket started oscillatory movements in front of my eyes, but at the same time my heart whispered me that, ''come on, you've always been  listening to your brain..this is my turn...please listen to me...'' Oh my god, I was again into the most unwanted & uncomfortable territory; in fact I was in a comatose stage (Glasgow coma scale was measured to be only 3!!)...But this time I was confident of getting some kind of solution. Gradually I regained my composure & tried to have a long chat with my heart & brain..

BRAIN---  ''As long as you are a  free radical (UNPAIRED electron in the outer orbit), you are highly dynamic & reactive, you are filled with of energy & enthusiasm..In this sate you are ready to take on everything & everyone..you save a lot of time, a lot of money (and of course a lot of energy)....your targets get more concentrated efforts from you..but the moment you get paired, you are scared....now you are stable but disabled....Time seems to be hurried, dreams appear to be buried......only one word becomes highlighted on your dictionary; that is COMPROMISE ''...................

HEART--- ''this whole story is the old story....by people saying 'you are better alone'....when I asked the same chemist, which is a stronger bond, single or double, he says it is the double bond !!!!!!!! So guys love hmm..love is in the air, you have to feel it...you've to find oxygen in love...The same medical principle(IPPA) can be applied here dude..INSPECT your lover, PALPATE her innocence, PERCUSS the weak areas & AUSCULTATE her heart-beats on your chest.......

[result-- heart wins the 1st round of this exciting match, but many more rounds to go & I'll give you more updates later]

GIVE ME ANOTHER STROKE

I always follow a principle: ‘NEVER SUPRESS YOUR EMOTIONS’… This really has been advantageous for me since last 3-4 years. In my opinion, writing is a great way to express emotions & as usual I am going to take its help. I had decided to say NO to blogging in the final year because of the tightly packed schedules, but one incident has made me so emotional that, I can no longer suppress my desire to blog. So I am feeling good to be back into this universe of bloggers & really enjoying typing something which is beyond my comfort zone (affairs/relationships)!!

1st November 2010.It was a fine, cool morning in Bhubaneswar & I was in the Apollo hospital for my project works. Let me say that, for a medico, no place is better than a tertiary care word class hospital like Apollo. I usually become consciously unconscious in the 1st 15-20 min after entering Apollo because the gorgeous receptionists in the centrally air-conditioned building make me feel like a business class passenger of a trans-continental flight. So after 20-30 min, I regain my composure & start my work. So the 1st November was not an exception. As a routine practice I had to be with my mentor, Dr Mishra during the rounds in the neurology indoor. During the rounds we entered room no- 448 in which an 80 year old widow was in bed & was staring at the ceiling. According to my mentor she was received in a state of coma 1 month ago, was diagnosed as a case of stroke & was treated accordingly. At that point of time the lady was fine & she was requesting to discharge her from the hospital. We were astonished when we didn’t find any of her relatives to talk about the discharge but Dr Mishra promised her that she’ll be discharged soon. After coming out of the room, he told me with a sad note that ‘I want to discharge her but her none of her bloody relatives are coming to the hospital’. Then we visited other indoor patients to complete the morning rounds & came back to his OPD chamber. (If you’ll compare the OPD chamber of Apollo to that of a govt. college you’ll feel as if the Apollo chamber is for Ema Watson & the Govt. chamber is for Rakhi Sawant).

After the indoor rounds my mentor attends the OPD patients & I do the neuro-assessments of all the stroke victims, which is very much similar to watching golf tournaments in TV i.e difficult & boring. After examining 2 patients I came to room no 448. Surprisingly I found that lady with tears in her eyes. But she behaved normally as if nothing has happened. Without asking anything I started the examinations & found her to be normal (believe me or not, everything appears normal to a normal medical student). But being driven by curiosity I asked her the reason of crying. First she denied, but then started crying again & told me with a trembling voice that, ‘I am fine since last 1 week, I want to go home but my sons are not taking me’. This was really one of the tear-dragging moments of my life. When I enquired more about her family, she told about her two sons, two daughters, daughter-in laws & the two son-in-laws who are doctors! Tears streaming down her eyes, she mentioned, ‘they are coming to the hospital only for 20-30min, just to complete the formalities. They are just checking whether I am alive or dead, none of them have appeared since last week’.  I was feeling very uneasy at that moment as I saw those things only in movies like Baghban & other TV serials but never in real life. Other than consoling her I could do nothing. LL
Then I returned to Dr Mishra to tell the whole story & to find out a solution.  After listening to these things, he was annoyed & looked more tensed than Viswanathan Anand in front of a chess board. He told me that during his 5 years in Boston he found the American sons to be more loyal to their parents as compared to the Indians. Then he asked me to search her son’s phone no from the patient file (that made me feel like the member of CID team in sony). After getting the number, he dialed with the speaker on. Here goes the conversation:
Dr-hey Mr X, your mother seems to be fine now, I want to discharge her.
Mr X- Thanks doc. But I am wondering if you can keep her for another 10-15 days in hospital.
Dr- but why? She wants to go home.
Mr X- Actually I have a 3 year old son & my wife at home. If she is discharged now, it’ll be difficult for my wife to manage the condition. My wife has asthma problem.
Dr- as you wish Mr X. but remember that she is emotionally fragile & it may lead to another stroke. Hope you understand.
Mr X-yes. I do understand but what can I do?? I am helpless. I’ll talk to you later.

Hearing these things, both of us were speechless. He told me, ‘we can do nothing in this case, just keep the old lady in your mind & promise yourself that you’ll never do that to your parents’ & started attending the patients. I too started my work but in the absence of brain & heart.  So many things jammed my grey matter.
Today is the auspicious Diwali & I am writing this story because I can’t forget the tears of the helpless mother. When I told the story to my parents, they told that they would have preferred to remain in coma in such condition because it is unbearable for any of the parents in the universe to receive such ridiculous behavior. She must have celebrated a number of diwalis with her family members but now no body cares what their mother feeling now in this diwali. She must have been worried about her children’s health in the past but now, nobody has time for her. A son has time to get worried about the asthma of his wife but not about the brain stroke of his mother!!  We haven’t grown up by our parents just to throw money for their treatment in modern hospitals; only thing they want from us in their old age is proper caring & affectionate behavior. So please keep your parents happy throughout their life because it’ll give you more happiness than getting a job in Microsoft or getting a seat in the Harvad/MIT, because our happiness is directly propotional to that of our parents'.
